In fact, where many diets change or seek to redefine the United States dietary guidelines, the Best Life diet builds from them.  Created by Bob Greene, the Best Life Diet became popular through its promotion by Oprah Winfrey.  As other diets might focus on packaged foods, or taking additional diet supplements, the Best Life Diet focuses on healthy eating and making positive lifestyle changes.  Since it is a way of life and not a diet, you don’t need to worry about falling off the diet.  Additionally, the focus isn’t placed on losing a certain amount of pounds or inches each week.  The Best Life Diet is successful, but it takes a while to see your health transform.</p>
<p>With a focus on watching your food choices and increasing your daily exercise, the Best Life Diet determines the amount of calories needed based upon your age, weight, and gender. Focusing on a 40:30:30 ratios of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, the Zone Diet brings hormones into balance.  It is this balancing of hormonal levels that gives the diet its name: the Zone diet.  Once you are in the Zone, insulin levels balance, and the results are that you lose weight. This is also effective for those who are dealing with Type 2 Diabetes.  Additionally, Glucagons, hormones responsible for controlling glucose, and Eicosanoids, hormones that are used to control inflammation, also comes into balance.  The result is energy coupled with optimal mental function, fast weight loss, and the regulation of all hormonal systems.</p>
<p>When you enter the Zone, your hormones remain balanced and you’ll find that you won’t be as hungry as you usually are. Referred to as the trademarked, Atkins Nutritional Approach, the Atkins Diet focuses on losing weight by controlling the amount of carbohydrates, as measured in grams, that you consume each day.  As you continue on the diet, you’ll begin to know your own body’s tolerance towards carbohydrates.  The goal isn’t to rid the diet of carbohydrates forever, but to limit them while you lose weight, then slowly add them back in.  Discovering your ACE or Atkins Carbohydrate Equilibrium is key. </p>
<p>The ACE is the point where you can eat a certain amount of carbohydrates, measured in grams, and remain at a steady or balanced weight.  Once you begin gaining weight, you’ll know that you are reaching above your ACE.  If you continue losing, you are below your ACE and will need to add more carbs to your diet.  This step is the last of the four phases that compose the Atkins Diet.  The four phases of the Atkins Diet are: Phase 1 or Induction, Phase 2 or Ongoing Weight loss also referred to as OWL, Phase 3 or Pre-Maintenance, and Phase 4 or Maintenance.</p>
<p>During Phase 1 or Induction, you will give your weight loss a jump-start.  In fact, some people have reported significant weight loss during this period, including weight loss of up to twenty pounds.  Lasting two weeks, you will limit your total carbohydrate count to twenty grams per day.  Your diet will consist of what the Atkins Diet refers to as Net Carbs.</p>
<p>Phase 2, or OWL, is when you will increase your carbohydrate allowance each week.  The purpose of this phase is to determine how many carbohydrates it takes before you stop losing weight.  You will stay on Phase 2 until you are within ten pounds of reaching your target weight. </p>
<p>Phase 3, or the Pre Maintenance level is all about developing healthy eating habits. On this phase you only have ten pounds to lose, but the goal isn’t a race to reach the finish line.  It’s all about reaching your goal weight in a safe and healthy manner, utilizing your new eating skills.  </p>
<p>Phase 4 is the final phase.  You have reached your goal and now you will learn the skills to maintain them throughout your life.  The Atkins Diet is very successful and has been used by many people to lose weight since 1972.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Created by Arthur Agatston, M.D. the South Beach Diet focuses on removing bad carbohydrates and fats from the diet and replacing them with good carbohydrates and fats.  The subject of good and bad carbohydrates and fats might seem unusual to the novice, however the South Beach Diet is based upon these principles.  The belief is that when you focus on good fats and good carbs you will find your body becoming healthier resist hunger, and lose weight in a sensible manner.  Dr. Agatston is a cardiologist who developed the diet for use with his heart patients.</p>
<p>The premise is that high glycemic carbohydrates, such as potatoes, bread, rice, cereal, pasta, sugar, and fruit raise insulin levels and the body subsequently has a difficult time digesting and processing these carbohydrates.  They are then converted to fat, and also cause blood levels to surge then drop, creating cravings and hunger pangs.  The condition is referred to as Insulin Resistance Syndrome. When these carbohydrates are removed from the diet, and are then replaced with low glycemic, or low sugar, carbohydrates, the body can process and digest carbs with ease.  Blood sugar levels become normal, food cravings and hunger pangs begin to stabilize and weight is lost.  Additionally, Dr. Agatston believes that when blood levels begin to drop to normal levels, that the risk for developing Diabetes drops as well.</p>
<p>The South Beach Diet advocates more than just changing the fats and carbohydrates in your diet.  They approach the diet as a way of life and encourage people to exercise more, addressing health from all levels.  Focusing on portion control is also a tool used to help teach self-control.  Once hunger pangs and cravings subside, after blood sugar levels become normalized, many people find that the diet is satisfying and an easy plan to adhere to for the rest of their lives.  </p>
<p>Three phases comprise the South Beach Diet.  These are Phase 1, where you stay on the phase for two weeks and stabilize blood sugar levels.  The result is that within two weeks you will have begun to lose weight and cravings will cease.  Phase 2 focuses on losing weight.  On this level, you’ll begin to add back healthy carbohydrates and will see your health begin to improve.  The final phase is Phase 3 and this phase is designed for life maintenance.  You will learn how to eat, and even enjoy special treats, without losing control of your diet.  Many people have found great success with the South Beach Diet, making it one of the most popular diets available.</p>

In fact, Weight Watchers isn’t about another diet; it is about changing your lifestyle by making healthy choices.  Understanding that many people become overweight due to bad eating habits, they have designed a point system that teaches you how to monitor the foods you eat.  Weight Watchers also develops a support system for its clients through the use of meetings and interactive tools that are available on the Internet.</p>
<p>Using a four-step approach called the Four Pillars, Weight Watchers addresses four main areas of a person’s life.  These Four Pillars include behavior, support, exercise, and food. The Four Pillars are the basis of the program and focus on changing your eating behaviors by identifying emotional triggers, attending regular meetings for support (these can be in your local community or online), developing a regular exercise plan, and making healthy food choices from one of the several flexible food plans that Weight Watchers provides.  </p>

Different foods are assigned a point value and you are allotted a certain amount of points each day, typically between 18 and 35 points.  This can vary depending upon your height, BMI, weight, and amount of exercise that you perform weekly.  Staying within your point limit will help ensure that you continue to lose weight in a healthy and safe manner.  Weight Watcher is one of the most successful weight loss programs, having helped people reach their fitness goals for over 40 years.</p>
